Photo Gallery: Building Phase 4

Phase 4 of the project was a very productive work effort. Four builders from the Lansing Michigan area, Bruce Hendy, Jack Zimmer, Bill Tanasse and Gus Flores spent an entire week at the orphanage building the roof on Ciudad Central, the largest building on the property. We were blessed to receive approximately 80 - 50 foot trusses, 700 two by fours, and 300 particle board sheets to cover the roof. The week began with preparation of the buildings, framing the interiors of Ciudad Central, the Director's Home, and the Medical building. Most of the trusses were placed by hand, however; we were able to obtain a crane, thanks to Mr. Antonio Caballero. Workers also completed preparing the cement pillars at the front of the Medical building. Also, several of the orphanage board members joined together to view the project and sing Happy Birthday to Damon Nolan, our Building Supervisor, who turned 80 years old on March 8. Damon continues to provide exceptional leadership for our building efforts as we proceed into Phase 5.
